Rocks Around Town! image Rocks Around Town!
Mrs Carlin's third grade class has been learning about kindness all year. They have talked about the ripple effect and boomerang effect. One of our kindness challenges was to make a picture with stickers for the Head Start class in the building. The third graders loved seeing how happy the pictures made the younger children. A week later the Head Start class came and surprised the third graders with play dough that they had made! That is the boomerang effect- when kindness comes back to you. The last project of the year was to decorate a rock and hide it somewhere for someone else to find. Finding these colorful rocks brings joy to others. This is the ripple effect! So, if you see a rock around town, you can take a picture of it and post it on Facebook to Chenango County Rocks. Then relocate it to bring joy to someone else!

B-G Girls Varsity Volleyball Team 2016 BG Bobcats Volleyball Girls Excel
We are pleased to announce that the Bainbridge Guilford Volleyball Program will have four student athletes participating in the 2017 IREVA High Performance Program this summer. Three girls have made 2017 travel teams which will train in NY before traveling to Ft Lauderdale, FL in July for the USAV High Performance Championships where they will compete against other regional teams, USAV teams and international teams. In order to be selected, the girls needed to attend tryouts where they competed against girls throughout the region regardless of school size or location. The girls who made travel teams are Abigail Selfridge and Zamira Caldwell (class of 2019), and Erica Selfridge (class of 2021). In addition, Marissa Cuozzo (class of 2019) will be attending an IREVA Training Camp where she will be given lots of high level instruction. Such a great honor for all these girls who work hard both in school and on the court and such an honor for a small school to have not one or two but THREE representatives in Ft. Lauderdale … they better practice a response to the question “where is Bainbridge-Guilford?”We are certain they will make us proud and come back ready to share their new talents with us! Thank-you Coach Tami Selfridge for your dedication to this sport and the B-G Bobcats!

Bailey Hotaling All-State Scholar Athlete- Bailey Hotaling
Congratulations to Bailey Hotaling for being selected to the All-State Scholar Athlete team by the New York State High School Football Coaches Association. Bailey earned this award by being a conscientious competitor both in the classroom and on the football field. Student-Athletes were selected from over 150 schools in New York that participate in football. Student-Athletes must have over a 90 average and be significant contributors to the football team. Bailey satisfied both of these requirements easily. Good luck to Bailey next year, as he will attend Hartwick College to study Environmental Science and play football for the Hawks.
Five students who earned Associate Degree from TC3 B-G Students Earn Associate’s Degree

Five students in the Class of 2017 have achieved this honor and are pictured here: Abbi Miller, Olivia Garror, Rachel Hinkley, Caitlyn Diamond, and Griffin Fisher. Additionally, the following seniors earned at least 24 college credits while in high school: Kyle Rideout, Austin Carr, Brandon Scherhaufer, Skylar Clark, Kamryn Farrell, Aidan Nolan, Bailey Hotaling, Konnor Bookhout, Camille Hawkins, Nevada Heaney, Rebecca Reyes, and Lindsey Barnhart.

Through this collaborative effort with TC3 and SUNY Broome, B-G students can choose from more than 20 concurrent enrollment courses and online courses covering a wide variety of subjects. Even if student do not earn enough credits for an Associate’s degree, it is great way for them to explore career interests and learn at the college level, while saving on future tuition charges if they choose to attend college after graduation. If you would like further information about this program, please contact the high school guidance office at 607-967-6320.

Illegal Passing of School Buses - APRIL ‘COUNT DAY’ RESULTS: 39,620!
Our April ‘COUNT DAY’ results continue an alarmingly high rate of illegal passing in the 2016-2017 school year. Our average for this year’s campaign is more than 12,000 passes per day higher than last year’s c

In March 2017, our survey revealed 54,962 illegal passes, up from the 39,000 in February. The April survey reported 39,620. That level keeps our average daily count at 41,724 for this school year, with an average of 2,261 right side passes. That compares with 29,533 in the 2015-2016 school year, for a 41% increase year-to-year.

These are the average number of illegal passing of school buses in New York state, daily, for the month. The number is determined by taking a sample of districts/operators from across the state of a particular day and then these numbers are statistically expanded out based on the number of buses/routes/drivers in the state to come up with the average number.

We will continue our “COUNT DAYS” in May 2017 and will invite all NYAPT members to join the survey. The results of the May survey will be shared with the National Association of State Directors of Pupil Transportation Services for their annual effort to estimate illegal passing totals nationally.

Student Attendance Auto Call

Attention Parents/Guardians!

In our continued effort to guarantee your child’s safety, the Bainbridge Guilford Central School District will be implementing an automated attendance calling system starting Monday, April 3, 2017. This call will go out to all students that have been marked “unexcused” from when the morning attendance was taken. If you receive such a call, please call the school to notify us of your child’s whereabouts.

With our new system if you know in advance that your child will be out of school, please notify the district ahead of time and this will prevent the automated call. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to call the school at 607-967-6321.
