Student Access to Email and GOOGLE Classroom

Parents and Students, while we are out of school, we would like students to log into their school email accounts so Teachers and Counselors can communicate with them. From a cell phone or digital device, go to bgcsd.org (B-G Website) then go to the “Parents/Students” link in the middle of the screen. Scroll down to “Student My Apps Log-In” and click that link. Students will then be prompted to enter their username (first name.last [email protected]) and the password they use to log into school computers. This takes students to their My Apps Suite where they can then access their email by clicking the “Bainbridge Office 365 Mail”.   Students should check their school email daily and are encouraged to check Google Classroom, which is in the My Apps Suite under “Bainbridge Google Classroom” for invites from their teachers. If help is needed please use the following resources:

Student and Family Technical Support

  • Beginning on 3/25/20 BOCES will increase their capacity to answer phone calls from parents and students at (607) 766-3800 in need of technology support.  Please note that parents and students will be asked to confirm their identity by verifying the students name, building, grade and date of birth before any changes to account information (i.e. password resets) are made.  All calls will be logged and the building principal will receive an automated email with the details.  This way if the issue is something that is unable to be resolved remotely by SCRIC staff (i.e. lost Chromebook), the principal will have the information to help address it.
  • BOCES Technology Support has also created a School Closure Technology Support for Students and Families website, which can be accessed HERE This page gives families information and assistance on how to utilize MyApps, Google, Schoology and other remote learning tools while students attend school remotely.

For those of you without internet access or digital devices we are working on a plan to make those available to you.

Next Generation Standards for Student ELA and Math Learning

Click HERE for more parent information!

The Next Generation Learning Standards are the educational goals for all of New York State’s students from prekindergarten through grade 12 in English Language Arts and Mathematics. The standards were revised to ensure they are appropriate for students’ grade levels and reflect what students should know and be able to do in math and ELA.

Full implementation of the NYS Next Generation Learning Standards begins during the 2020-2021 school year for prekindergarten through grade 8. The implementation timeline can be found at http://www.nysed.gov/curriculuminstruction/next-generation-learningstandards-and-assessment-implementationtimeline. You can learn more about the Next Generation ELA and Mathematics Learning Standards by talking to your child’s teacher or visiting www.nysed.gov/next-generationlearning-standards.

COVID 19 - Corona Virus Update

Dear Parent/Guardian

While the Bainbridge-Guilford CSD does not have a confirmed case of COVID-19, caused by the novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) in our schools, we are aware of concerns in the state about the spread of this relatively new virus.

The district is closely monitoring this changing situation and following guidance from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH), the Chenango County Department of Health and the New York State Education Department.

Based on recent reports, COVID-19 is not actively circulating in New York State at this time. If the district becomes aware that a student or staff member is diagnosed with COVID-19, it will immediately notify staff and parents/guardians. If a student or staff member shows respiratory symptoms, we will follow our current practices for handling respiratory illnesses, subject to any additional guidance forthcoming.

The district has infectious disease protocols in place and has been taking steps, such as cleaning and disinfecting throughout its schools, to minimize the spread of viruses and a variety of other illnesses. There are a number of steps that students, staff and community members can take to minimize the spread of all respiratory illnesses, including COVID-19, according to the state Department of Health:
• Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol based hand sanitizer. Heavily soiled hands should be washed.
• Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.
• Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
• Stay home when you are sick.
• Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, than throw the tissue in the trash.
• Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.

If you or a family member begin showing symptoms of a respiratory disease and suspect it may be COVID-19, contact your healthcare provider. Before going to your healthcare provider’s office, inform them that a case of COVID-19 is suspected, and follow their advice.

Local health departments will contact school if a suspected or known COVID-19 case emerges. The district is prepared to work with any affected families.

In addition, New York has established a Novel Coronavirus Hotline, which can provide additional information. Call 1-888-364-3065 with questions or concerns about travel and symptoms. The district will continue to share information as it becomes available.

Please know that, as always, the health and safety of our students and staff is our highest priority, and we will remain vigilant in our efforts to help prevent the spread of this illness.

Sincerely,
Timothy R. Ryan

Change for Jr.-Sr. High School Pick-Up of Students at Dismissal

Due to severe traffic congestion and pedestrian safety, picking students up on Juliand Street will no longer be permitted. Students must be picked up at the Soccer Field Parking Lot behind the Jr-Sr High School. This parking lot can be accessed via Terrace Hill Road off of State Rt. 206 or Pearl Street to Tyler Street which becomes Prospect Street, then left on to Jericho Road and then a right turn into the parking lot. Your patience and understanding with this procedural change is greatly appreciated and we thank you in advance for your cooperation. Please call Kyle Fuller, Head Bus Driver, at 967-6324 with any questions you might have.
Hatching Chicks

Ag Club Produces!

Very successful hatching day at B-G and a very busy day for our chicks! Eleven out of 14 eggs hatched successfully. Students enjoyed watching the process and visiting with the chicks. We were very fortunate to have the eggs donated to us by Katy Kemmeren, a B-G Alumna!  Thanks to the LP Program for hosting the hatching!

Hydroponic garden is producing nicely. The B-G Ag Club tomatoes are ripening!! With battery powered pollination we were able to have tomatoes set fruit indoors without the work of actual bees! This week, BG enjoyed a tasty snack of homegrown tomatoes, fresh basil and mozzarella. It was made with the cherry tomatoes started from seeds that germinated in the hydroponic system in Mrs. Scherhaufer’s room! Thank you Mrs. Scherhaufer for hosting Ag Club's hydroponic grower this year to grow our tomatoes and lettuce!

The high school is excited and proud to announce that it now has our own clothing store for students! Put away those Kohl’s discount coupons, because everything in here is free! It is all gently used, and washed by volunteer staff and students.

Here at BG we believe in recycling, and caring for each other, and giving back to the community! It’s the Bobcat Way, and The Bobcat Boutique Clothes Closet does all of that!!

The Closet will be open every day during school hours. Students can visit it by asking for a pass during study hall, breakfast or lunch. It is located in the tech building, upstairs, next to the study hall classroom. There will be signs.

Every student is welcome to shop!

Attention Parents and Guardians!

Please update your contact information with your student’s Main Office Building secretary. For safety purposes it is imperative to have your current contact information! Thank-you!
