Alli Miller Nominated to Represent Section IV

Alli Miller was recognized with all the NYSPHAA (New York State Public High School Athletic Association) student representatives from each section. Two representatives from each section are nominated and Alli is one from Section IV.  They were recognized at the Syracuse Dome during the halftime of the Class B High School Football State Championship Game.  This was also part of a whole weekend of meetings, conference presentations and team buildings for the student representatives all held in Syracuse at the end of November. The Student Advisory was created to get the student/athlete's ideas and perspectives on high school sports in New York State and to utilize their strengths and leadership.

Girls On the RUN!

Greenlawn is looking for volunteer coaches for Girls on the Run, beginning in the spring. The season runs from mid-March through May, ending with a 5K. Each team has 2 coaches. Planning is pretty simple, with provided lessons. Teams meet twice a week, and often join together to complete activities. As of now, we have 3 volunteers, but need more to make another team. We would love to be able to revive this amazing, empowering program for girls in grades 3 through 6. For more information about the program, please visit http://www.girlsontheruncny.org.
Please get in touch with Amanda Madugno by Dec 7th by emailing amadugno@bgcsd.org, as registration for volunteer coaches is happening now!

Erica Frost Attending NYSSMA Winter Conference!

At the end of this week, from Thursday through Sunday, Erica Frost will be attending the New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) Winter Conference.  She will be playing clarinet in the All-State Band, which is comprised of some of the top New York State high school musicians.  Participation in the All-State groups is highly selective and this is a tremendous honor for Erica and our school.  It takes many, many years and lots of practice to achieve this level of performance!

The music department is very proud of Erica!
