TOP 5 Seniors in the Class of 2018!
Maya Bunting Cliffe, daughter of Dorian Bunting-Cliffe and Paul Cliffe, has been named the Valedictorian of the Bainbridge-Guilford Class of 2018. She has been on Principal’s Honor Roll throughout her high school career, and has also been a member of both Junior and Senior Honor Societies. While taking the multiple AP courses available, Maya has also taken advantage of the concurrent enrollment and online courses offered through Tompkins Cortland Community College. These advanced courses have allowed her the opportunity to graduate with over 60 college credits as well as an Associate’s degree in math and science from Tompkins Cortland Community College. Maya has been involved in many other extracurricular activities such as, bowling, tennis, Honor Society, Yes! Leads, and Envirothon. Joining Envirothon in her freshman year lead to an increased interest in the sciences and environment. Leading this group for the next three years to two regional wins, Maya has found a love for using her knowledge and skills to solve environmental problems.  This sparked her interest in becoming an environmental engineer. After graduation, Maya plans to attend Clarkson University as a student in the Honors Program to study environmental engineering.

Jonathan Michael Castle, son of Michael and Lisa Castle, has been named the Salutatorian of the Bainbridge-Guilford Class of 2018. He has been on the Principal’s Honor Roll throughout his years of high school and is a current member of the National Honor Society.  While at B-G, Jonathan has taken advantage of the various opportunities to take AP and dual enrollment classes that the school provides. Jonathan has participated in several extracurricular activities. He has been a member of both the Junior and Senior Honor Societies. He has played on the varsity football team since tenth grade, and was a team captain in both his junior and senior seasons.  Following his senior season, Jonathan was named the NYSHSFCA Scholar Athlete for Class D in all of New York State. From his freshman to junior years he was a member of the basketball program, but switched to bowling for his senior year. He has also been a member of the varsity baseball team since tenth grade. In addition to his athletic pursuits, Jonathan attended Boys’ State and has been a member of the Envirothon team. He was on the Envirothon team that went to the state competition in both his sophomore and junior years. Through his participation in this program, Jonathan has discovered his interest in the environment which he will continue to pursue in college and plans to attend Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute to study environmental engineering.

Courtney Delello, daughter of James Delello and Shelley Holden is ranked third in this year’s graduating class. Throughout high school, Courtney has challenged herself academically by taking many online and dual enrollment college level courses through TC3 as well as SUNY Broome. Courtney has also completed Advanced Placement coursework in Literature, Calculus and History. As a result of Courtney’s hard work, she has accumulated enough college credits to earn an Associate’s Degree through TC3. In addition to being a member of the National Honor Society, Courtney has also been active in Student Council, Yes!Leads, Spanish Club, dance, theater and bowling. In the B-G community, Courtney has been a member of the Jericho Garden Club and a volunteer for Relay for Life. In the fall, Courtney plans to attend Binghamton University where she will major in a mathematics related field.  

Ranking number four in this year’s graduating class is Bernardina Cordes, daughter of Dr. Richard Cordes and the late Dr. Sook Cordes. Bernardina has earned a spot on the Principal’s Honor Roll each quarter throughout high school and has been an active member of the National Honor Society. Bernardina has challenged herself with a rigorous courseload including dual enrollment classes as well as Advanced Placement History and Calculus. In eleventh grade, Bernardina received the National Academy of Future Physicians Award of Excellence as well as the George H. Ball Community Achievement Award. Bernardina has taken part in many extracurricular activities throughout high school including varsity track, soccer and Student Council. She has been very dedicated to band and orchestra, participating not only in jazz and marching band, but also All County festivals and NYSSMA competition. Bernardina plans to live in Finland for a year pursuing her passion of playing soccer before attending the University of Vermont in the fall of 2019 where she plans to major in Biochemistry.  
Samara Greene, daughter of Kenneth and Joelle Greene, ranks fifth in B-G’s graduating class of 2018. Samara has challenged herself academically throughout high school with a combination of Advanced Placement, dual enrollment and online coursework. Samara’s hard work has earned her Principal’s Honor Roll status throughout high school. In addition to graduating from B-G in June with an Advanced Regents Diploma, Samara will also have earned an Associate’s Degree through TC3. Samara has taken part in many activities while in high school. She has been actively involved in orchestra, band, drama club, envirothon, and has been a member of the National Honor Society. Samara is also a talented artist, often having her artwork displayed at local art shows. She was the deserving recipient of the painting award during her junior year at B-G. Samara has enjoyed her experiences with the Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Rehabilitation Hospital and will further her desire to pursue Marine Biology at New Haven University starting this fall.
